Chili Smack-down

Last year, one of our Wine Club members suggested having a chili cook-off for one of our pick-up parties. (I think it was Joe.) We thought it sounded like a good idea, so we asked the Wine Club as a group what they thought of the idea. To our delight, the response was a resounding “YES!” and the annual Wine Club chili cook-off was born. The fun, camaraderie and participation were incredible. SEVENTEEN members brought their chili and many more members and guests alike sampled their culinary wonders. There was green chili, bean chili, bean-free chili, meat chili, elk chili, chocolate chili and vegetarian chili. All were unique and wonderful…and very, very filling.
Yesterday I received the entry email from the reigning chili champion. The Casey’s have a title to defend. A few entrants are new to the Wine Club and we even have a husband and wife competing against each other! (Someone will sleep on the couch that night!) I hope that if you are considering entering this FUN event, that reading this blog and seeing the pictures will help sway you to join!

What a hoot! Thanks for allowing us to show off our award winning chili and taking home a case of your fabulous wine! I cannot think of a better way to spend a day – drinking wine, making friends and eating a delicious variety of chilis. We’ll be there to defend our crown!

I am looking forward to this years competition.
This year I think I will suggest a wine pairing to go with my chili. Thinking some ARV Primitivo would work nicely. Will have to do some research to find the best pairing.
I heard that Mike Frey’s chili will be paired with 2 Buck Chuck!
Can I select my ARV case for winning now??
